We asked: what do you think will happen during Bushiroad’s Strategy Presentation Party?

Did you know that there will be a stream later at 5AM UTC? ブシロードTCG戦略発表会2019春, or Bushiroad TCG Strategy Presentation Party 2019 Spring, is Bushiroad’s bi-annual stream where they talk about the direction that they will take each of their games. The main event for many people is new set announcements.

Last year Bushiroad had the stream happened in December of the year, and they announced enough sets to cover almost a year. Yes, iDOLM@STER Million Live!, the set that just came out a few weeks ago, was actually announced in December 2017. This year they have less time to present, and they already have sets lined up to April already, but there should still be lots of sets to be announced.

This year, we asked our Calgary community to answer to three questions, as we want to see what their top picks are:

Name one new title or expansion that you expect will show up for sure.
Name one new title that you want to see announced.
Name one series that you want an expansion to.

Here are what they have to say:

David says:

1. Probably SAO Alicization, since, y’know… it’s SAO.
2. Kaguya-sama. It probably won’t happen but I can dream, right?!
3. Symphogear AXZ feels overdue, especially with season 5 airing soon. I’d really like a card of Hibiki from the last episode!

Kevin Says:

1. Sword Art Online Alicization, It’s bound to happen, it’s SAO. Expecting atleast 4 more sets for this series.
2. Reincarnated as a Slime. Really enjoying both the manga and anime lately, and it fits with the upcoming series like Overlord and Goblin Slayer, so I say why not?
3. Saekano. We got a second season awhile ago and a movie on the way, a man can dream for his waifu =) Also I need Ponytail and Long Hair Megumi

2. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, could have cool marker mechanics for stands.

1. AoT season 3: while SAO itself is popular, the string popularity of AoT in the English speaking regions means this is also a safe bet for them to announce
2. Little witch academia, let’s get more Trigger projects into Weiss

1. SAO. Easy pick but hey it prints money.
2. Others have said Slime and Kaguya already so I’ll put up Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet. Bushi already printed sleeves for the series so that means a set is coming right?!?
3. Abyssals! Pls make this deck less jank to play thank you very much, there’s been more than enough abyssals added for a full set right now

1. Slime Reincarnation – because it’s popular, so it’s either weiss or a different card game
2. Boogiepop or Go Toubun no Hanayome
3. Rewrite to make Red and Yellow decks viable

1. DC/DS… DC4 is coming and I think history speaks for itself. Though I guess if you’re talking about soon™, it might not be for a while since the game’s slated for May lol, but I expect it to happen eventually.
2. yagate kimi ni naru, just really fell in love with the series.
3. Summer Pockets, it’s a set I’m interested in playing but every time I try to theory a deck something just feels off to me. I just feel like it needs a bit more something to round things out.

2. Agressive Retsuko is a great series and the art fits well with a game like weiss plus if you have not seen it its a good watch.
3. Revive some older sets maybe?

1. I am a sheep, so probably Sword Art Online.
2. Given that I write mostly about Macross Frontier, I would love to see a Macross Delta Set. Now that Crusade is dead and a second Macross Delta movie is coming, the time is now Bushiroad!
3. As much as I am completely unimpressed with Kemono Friends Season 2, I wouldn’t mind some new tools for the deck.

Final thoughts

Putting aside that some people can’t hold their urge and had to select two (or maybe they cannot count LOL), most people went with the safe choice of an expansion for question #1, as 8 out of 12 people thinks SAO:A will be announced. Question 2 mainly shows what show they each liked, while question 3 shows what set they mainly plays.

As for my personal pick… I personally will be really surprised if they don’t announce a season 2 anime set for BanG Dream!. It’s Bushiroad’s own IP, and they know it sells. As for a new set, I would really like to see Zombieland Saga – Bushiroad knows its fanbase loves idols shows. As for an expansion, I definitely can use an expansion set for Persona 5.
