Even when we are shut up in our homes, the Timvitational calls. Thus, welcome to the Road to the Timvitational. The Timvitational itself is currently suspended due to gathering rules, but now is the time to decide who has the mettle to win their Timvitation. This year’s Timvitational is tentatively set to be one month after the COVID-19 lockdown ends and will be an eight-person playoff for the Road to the Timvitational‘s league play. Once again, the coveted Timvitational trophy will be at stake.

How will the Road to the Timvitational Work:

Each week, participants will be matched up against one other participant for a league match. The league match will have the following format:

  1. The match will be played online, via:
    1. A card game simulator like Table Top Simulator;
    2. A video chat client like Skype, Zoom, Discord, etc.;
    3. Once social distancing is no longer necessary, in person matches.
  2. All games are Neo-Standard, with a mixed English and Japanese format.
    1. English and Japanese banlists apply to decks of the respected language.
  3. Games will be half an hour. If you pass the time limit, three more turns will be played. If a winner cannot be determined in those three additional turns, the player with the lowest level, or least cards in clock if at the same level, is the winner. If the players are still tied, refer to section 4 of Annex A of the Advanced floor rulings.
  4. Bushiroad floor rules apply where applicable.
  5. The winner of the game is awarded two points, the loser is awarded none. Please report the result to Tim promptly after the end of the match.
  6. You may switch decks between weeks.

How will Timvitational Standings work?

Each player will receive two points for each win. Players will be ranked by their standings points. The top eight players by standings points will earn invites to the Timvitational. To be eligible for a Timvite, you must play a minimum of five games.

Tie Breaking Procedure

If players are tied in standings points, the following tie breakers will be applied:

  1. Points percentage: It can be the case that some players will not be able to play as many games as others but have the same number of standings points. The player with the highest points percentage will be seeded higher.
  2. If players have identical score and points percentage, strength of schedule will be considered.
  3. If strength of schedule is identical, a play in match will occur. Winner of the play-in match receives the Timvite.
